"La Contestacion" by Los Lonely Boys - English translation of Spanish version

"La Contestacion" by Los Lonely Boys (Spanish Version)
Album: Los Lonely Boys

TRACK #12

¿A poco no está
Duro pa' ti?
¿Pa' que sigues así
Si aquí esto yo?

Isn't it
Hard for you?
Why do you continue like this
If I'm here?

Nunca te hacer (??? - this line isn't right)
Sentido que ya
Parece el final
Pues fíjate en mí.
Tú encontrarás
Contestación.

Never have you (???)
Felt that now
It looked like the end
Well look at me.
You'll find
The answer.

Fíjate en ti,
Muy dentro de ti,
Tú vas a encontrarme a mi
Para darte amor.

Look at yourself,
Deep inside yourself,
You will find me there
To give you love.

Que evita, que no sientes (??? - I think "evita" is wrong)
Cuando te tengo cerca de mi.
Yo quiero hacerte bien,
Quiero apretarte más.

What (???), that you don't feel
When I have you close to me.
I want to treat you right,
I want to hold you tighter.

Yo quiero que sepas tú
Que cuando estas cerca de mí,
Ya no tienes que llorar
Porque yo estaré ahí
Para darte mi amor.

I want for you to know
That when you're close to me,
You don't need to cry anymore
Because I'll be here
To give you my love.

[Last two stanzas repeat]

Translation Notes:

La contestación = the answer, the response

It's a noun coming from the verb contestar.

e.g. "contestar una carta" = to answer a letter

---

¿A poco no esta
Duro pa' ti?
¿Pa' que sigues así
Si aquí esto yo?

"A poco no" is an idiom. It is a rhetorical invitation for the other person to deny a truth. It can be used at the beginning or the end of a sentence.

e.g. "Se te olvidó el paraguas, a poco no?" = You forgot your umbrella, didn't you?

The closest English equivalent is only used at the end of a sentence: "or what, no?"

"Pa' que" = Para que = What for (colloquial)

---

Yo quiero hacerte bien
I want to treat you right
I want to do good for you [lit.]

General Notes:

Argh! The internet only has one copy of the Spanish lyrics. Every website copied and pasted from the same source, so every website has the same mistakes. I fixed typos and added accents, but I'm still not sure about a few of the lines.
